A vibrant, Christ-centred church based in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, committed to helping people encounter God, grow in faith, and live transformed lives.
We believe in Water Baptism by immersion, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is a command of Jesus Christ for all who have put their faith in Him.
Baptism follows conversion, and serves as a public demonstration of your personal faith in Jesus.

Baptism did not start in the New Testament — its roots stretch into the Old Testament.
While the exact practice differed, we see:
Ceremonial washings (Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers) used for cleansing and consecration
Prophetic symbolism of water as purification and renewal
Ritual immersions in Jewish practice by the time of Jesus, symbolising repentance and spiritual cleansing
John the Baptist then introduced a baptism of repentance, preparing people for the coming of Christ.
Jesus affirmed baptism by being baptised Himself, and later commanded His disciples to baptise believers everywhere.
So baptism has both a rich biblical heritage and a clear New Testament mandate.
Baptism is more than symbolic — it is deeply spiritual, meaningful, and significant.
When you are baptised:
You identify with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection
Your old life is symbolically buried
You rise to live a new life in Christ
You publicly declare, “I belong to Jesus now”
You testify to God’s work of salvation in your life
It is not “just a public decoration” or a Christian tradition — it is a sacred act of obedience that strengthens your walk with God.
We baptise because:
If you have made a personal decision to follow Jesus, yes — baptism is your next step.
You should be baptised if:
You believe Jesus is Lord
You have repented and trusted in Christ for salvation
You want to publicly declare your faith
You are ready to follow Jesus wholeheartedly
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a Christian for years — it is never too late to obey Jesus in baptism.
