A New Beginning – 21 Days in the Word

Day 1 – A New Beginning

(Genesis 1:1-5)

The book of Genesis is the account of the origins of life, and it documents the creation of all things by the Giver of all life. As I read the above passage of the book of Genesis today, I am reminded of the reason and the importance of beginnings.

Beginnings point us to our roots and give us bearing for our future.  At the beginning of the year, it makes sense to take time to think of new beginnings.

New year calls for a reset and a re-ordering of things. The creation account in today’s passage has a lot to teach us about how to reset and re-order things for the new year.

Formless void

We may have a formless void covered with darkness which may be arising from the previous season. As we enter the new year, we may find that the chaos and confusion of the previous season may persist.

Sometimes the waves or consequences of our choices in the previous year or season, may splash on the shores of our present season. But the Spirit of God, the creative power of God is always present and moving despite the chaos.

In the midst of the chaos, God said, “let there be light” and all the constituent matter that make up the chaos began to respond to God’s voice – Order came out of the chaos. Every situation in your life will hear God’s voice and respond to it.

A new year

As we begin a new year, clear and specific instructions are needed for the creative power of God to reorder things in our lives. The chaos of the last year or our previous season may persist until we give clear and specific instructions. To give clear instructions, we must have a clear picture of the new.

The chaos and confusion of the previous season should not determine our picture of the new season. A new season requires a new beginning. The Spirit of God is present and active in this season to create our new season.

Therefore, you must learn to prophesy clear form to your new season. The light of God will shine forth into your disorder and darkness of the previous season and you will walk in His light this new year.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert
