Day 5 – Born for an Assignment
(Judges 13:1- 5; 24-25)
A solution to a problem
The Philistines had oppressed Israel for 40 years. When God decided that it was time for Israel’s deliverance, He chose a barren woman to conceive and bear a son, Samson, who would deliver His people. Samson was a solution to a problem. He ended the mother’s barrenness and would deliver Israel from the Philistines.
Just like Samson, we are all created by God to solve a problem. There is an assignment for which God designed and created you.
You are not an accident or a waste of space, you are a solution to a problem. It is your responsibility to discover and pursue the assignment for which God created you.
A sense of purpose
Manoah and his wife’s response to the message by the angel of God demonstrated that they had faith and were waiting for an answer to their prayers. They accepted gladly, the call of God on the son they were to have.
We must have a sense of purpose in our lives and be open to what God calls us to do. When you become conscious of the fact that you were created for an assignment, you will be alert and diligent to the opportunities God is bringing your way.
The problems closest to you and the things that break your heart and unlock your compassion are clues to the problems God has designed you to solve.
Set yourself apart
Because of the assignment Samson was to carry out, he was to live a prescribed lifestyle. Understanding that there is a purpose for our lives should influence the way we live.
For you to effectively carry out the assignment for which God created you, you must consciously set yourself apart for that assignment. You must avoid lifestyles that do not belong in your future and acquire the skills, training and discipline needed for your assignment.
You are born for an assignment
It is not enough to be aware that you are created for a purpose, you must set yourself apart for fulfilling that purpose. Because you are born for an assignment, you must live daily with the purpose of God in view.
Do not give your time, energy and attention to the things that do not belong in the future God designed for you.
True fulfilment in life comes from living daily for the purpose God created you.
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations“
Jeremiah 1:5
Thank you Lord that I live to fulfil your purpose for my life through Jesus. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that stirs me in the right direction. Amen
Amen!!
