Day 7 – Born for an Assignment
(Judges 13:1-14)
The Philistines had oppressed Israel for 40 years. When God decided that it was time for Israel’s deliverance, He chose a barren woman to conceive and bear a son, Samson, who would deliver His people. Samson was a solution to a problem. He ended the mother’s barrenness and would deliver Israel from the Philistines.
Just like Samson, you are created by God to solve a problem. There is an assignment for which God designed and created you. You are not an accident or a waste of space, you are a solution to a problem. It is your responsibility to discover and pursue the assignment for which God created you.
The call of God
Manoah and his wife’s response to the message by the angel of God demonstrated that they had faith. They were waiting for an answer to their prayers. They accepted gladly, the call of God on the son they were to have. We must have a sense of purpose in our lives and be open to what God calls us to do.
When you become conscious of the fact that you were created for an assignment, you will be alert and diligent to the opportunities that God brings your way in your journey through life. The problems closest to you and the things that break your heart are clues to the problems God has designed you to solve.
A prescribed lifestyle
Because of the assignment Samson was to carry out, he was to live a prescribed lifestyle. Understanding that there is a purpose for our lives should influence the way we live. For you to effectively carry out the assignment for which God created you. You must consciously set yourself apart for that assignment.
You must avoid lifestyles that do not belong in your future. Acquiring the skills, training and discipline needed for your assignment. It is not enough to be aware that you are created for a purpose, you must set yourself apart for fulfilling that purpose. Because you are born for an assignment, you must live daily with the purpose of God in view.
Do not give your time, energy and passion to things that do not belong in the future God designed for you.
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations“
Jeremiah 1:5

God has appointed me and equipped me for my purpose. Amen.
