Day 21 – God Will Rejoice Over You
(Zephaniah 3:14-20)
God will remember the faithful
Zephaniah brought God’s judgement on Israel and the nations that forsake God. He confronted them with their sins of idolatry and complacency and reminded them that the day of the Lord was coming soon. He called them to repentance so that they may escape the punishment of the Lord. But he ended with a message of hope for the faithful remnant.
The heart of his message was that God would judge the rebellious for their sins, but He will remember the faithful and show them His unending love and faithfulness.
God’s nature and character
This message of hope is hinged on God’s nature and character. God is a loving, kind, faithful, and covenant-keeping God. He remains faithful to His covenant of unending love to His people who are faithful to Him.
Though the whole nation had experienced God’s judgement because of their rebellion, for the faithful few, God would remember His covenant. God would cause them to rejoice again. He would take away the enemy that had oppressed them. He guaranteed His love for them with a promise of His abiding presence.
Hope in God’s love
The message of Zephaniah has parallels and applications for us today. We have a reason to hope in God’s love and faithfulness and to expect the coming years to bring to us the light of God’s faithfulness and love. Knowing that God is faithful to you and has promised you a better future is a reason to rejoice.
The El-Gibbor – the prevailing, Almighty God
God introduced Himself here as the El-Gibbor (v.17) – the prevailing, Almighty God. By this revelation, He wants you to know that He will prevail for you over your enemies and save you from the troubles that have taken away your joy.
You can be secure and at peace knowing that the prevailing One is with you. If you remain faithful to God despite what you have gone through in the past years and may be going through now, you can be certain that God will not forget you. He will be gracious to you and show you, His salvation.
God Will Rejoice Over You
The El-Gibbor will give you victory over your past, present and future challenges and will rejoice in your victory. God will rejoice over you with singing and will give you a new song.
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honour him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation“
Psalm 91:14-16

Hallelujah! Because of God’s love for me, He will remove disaster from me and my family; God will turn my shame into praise and deal with my oppressors 💃🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽
