Day 14 – Enduring Treasure

Day 14 – Enduring Treasure

Isaiah 33:10–16

The true splendour of salvation lies in the assurance it brings those who have received it are safe from the wrath of God and need not fear the day of judgement. This salvation is not a fleeting comfort but a lasting, enduring treasure. Believers can stand before God with confidence, not because of their own merit, but because of the righteousness bestowed upon them through Jesus Christ. In stark contrast, those who oppose God, persisting in unrighteousness, will be overwhelmed with terror when the time of judgement arrives. For the faithful, however, there is peace, for their lives are marked by steadfastness and the enduring riches of righteous living.

Yet, it is possible to be part of the Church, to dwell in Zion, and still lack genuine salvation. Mere religious activity – regular church attendance, participation in rituals, and external displays of piety—does not guarantee a true relationship with Christ. Such hypocrisy may deceive others and even oneself, but it cannot deceive God. When judgement sounds, fear will grip those who have relied on empty forms of godliness rather than sincere faith. Their religious façade will crumble, for it lacks the substance of true worship. God does not seek pretenders whose lips honour Him while their hearts remain distant; He longs for worshippers who approach Him in spirit and truth.

Those who have not attained the enduring treasure of genuine salvation, who are not firm in God’s ways, will ultimately face the consequences of divine judgement. One of the great rewards of righteousness is deliverance from death; the righteous are promised a dwelling on high, sustained by God’s faithful provision and comfort. The true and lasting treasure in life is the righteousness of Christ and a steadfast walk in His ways. As Christians, our foremost calling is to pursue righteousness—being justified through Christ and living each day so that His righteousness shines forth in the world.

That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Pet. 1:7).
