Day 16 – Beautiful Beyond Description

Day 16 – Beautiful Beyond Description

(Song of Solomon 6:1-10)

The man’s vivid portrayal of his beloved’s beauty is captivating and heartfelt. He is utterly enchanted by her, and he takes great care to articulate the qualities that make her so precious to him. His words are so compelling that they stir the curiosity and admiration of his friends, who long to see the woman he praises so highly. This practice of openly expressing admiration for your spouse is a genuine demonstration of love and appreciation. When you vocalise your affection—rather than merely holding it in your heart—you affirm and uplift your partner, allowing them to feel cherished and valued. True love thrives on such affirmation; let your spouse hear your words of praise repeatedly, as it strengthens the bond between you.

Yet, as profound as human love and beauty can be, they pale in comparison to the surpassing loveliness of Christ, to whom all believers are eternally united. Christ is “altogether lovely,” truly beautiful beyond human description and far too marvellous for words. If Christ is the supreme treasure of our hearts, it is only right that we express our admiration and adoration to Him—not only in private devotion but also openly before others. Just as we would speak lovingly of a spouse, we ought to proclaim Christ’s greatness, explaining why He is more precious to us than anything or anyone else. Authentic love is not silent or reserved; it must be expressed both in word and deed. Loving God calls for visible and vocal devotion, as love concealed is love unfulfilled.

Those truly captivated by Christ’s love are neither timid nor ashamed to show it. When you are openly enthusiastic about Christ, your passion for Him becomes evident, often sparking curiosity and desire in others to discover the source of your joy. If you genuinely love Him, make it apparent—let your words and actions clearly reflect your devotion. When Christ is the object of your deepest affection, pleasing Him becomes your highest aim. Do not keep your love for Christ hidden; let it shine forth, inspiring others to see His beauty and to seek Him for themselves.

For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels (Mark 8:38).
