Day 21 – The End Game
(Revelation 21:1-8)
Every story plot line has an end. The end ties all the pieces together. Hence the end is very important in any plot line. You may forget the details of the story, but the end remains with you if it is well written. The human story, God’s salvation story, has an end. Today’s passage summarizes the end the author of the human story has planned. Life is not random or out of control, the author of life is in control and has a plan. God’s plan will come to pass and will not be overcome by human schemes.
The human story
Before the end, the human story has been characterised by tears, death, mourning and pain. When we experience these things in our everyday lives, it should remind us that the end has not come. The pain and disappointments of this life are necessary parts of the human story, and no one is excepted from them, until the end. We need faith and courage as we go through these things on our journey to the end.
But surely the end will come at the time set by the author of the human story. When the end comes, there will be no more pain, sorrow, disappointments, and the frustrations you may be facing now. The certainty of the end is assured by God Himself, who is the Alpha and the Omega. God is the beginning and the end of our story and is in the middle of it as well. He knows what you are going through and has got you till the end.
We must live right
The certainty of the end requires us to live in a particular way now (vs.7-8). We must live right and conquer to enjoy the rewards of victory at the end. As we go through the challenges of life, we must keep the end in mind and endure faithfully. You should not let the difficulties of the present make you forget the end, by living for the present. Those who live for the present by living for themselves forfeit the reward of victory reserved for those who conquer. Make sure you are playing for the end game, not for immediate gratification and fame.
“Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful”“
Revelation 21:5
By the grace of God, I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. God is faithful to keep me in Him until the end. Amen 🙏🏽
