Day 12 – The Glory of the Church
(Isaiah 2:1-5)
The Church today
At the heart of Isaiah’s prophecy is what the Lord showed him would happen in the later days. These days though referring to the Millennium reign of Christ is applicable to the present age of the Church. Isaiah gave a description of what those days would look like and called Judah and Jerusalem to a response.
This prophetic picture is very significant for the Church today because we live in the later days. The Christian Church must therefore be the church Isaiah prophesied about.
The glory of the Church
God’s reign in the Church is the glory of the Church. His glory in the Church makes her preeminent in the world over every other human institution. Without the rule of God in the Church, there is no glory in her. When God rules in His temple, His word and ways coming from His temple becomes the attraction to God’s house.
The distinguishing mark of the true church is that God is reverenced, His word and ways honoured, taught, and lived out through the Church. The highest call of the Church in this age is to honour God’s word and His ways by living and teaching it unadulterated in this generation.
God’s revelation is foundational
When people hear the word of God coming from His house and see God’s people living a life of obedience to the word, it would get their attention. They will come to realise that God’s revelation is foundational to their lives, and they would want to know it and live by it.
When the Church honours God in His house, His presence will be evident in the Church. God’s presence in the Church and His life through the Church will draw the nations to the Church to seek God’s word and His ways.
Peace in the world will come not by the might of military or economic power as the recent events in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Ukraine, etc have shown us. It is only the presence of the Prince of Peace in the nations through the Church that would guarantee peace in the world.
The Spirit of God at work in the Church will unite people and cause hostilities to cease. Our responses to the above revelational truth should be to live in the light of the Lord.
This means living a life of holiness, peace, and obedience to the word of God. As we do, God’s glory will be seen in the world through the Church.
“O Lord, I love the habitation of your house and the place where your glory dwells“
Psalm 26:8

Amen. Help me Lord to continue to walk in the light of God and point people to you.
Amen 🙏
