Day 18 – The Lord’s Vindication Is Near
(Isaiah 66:1- 9)
The closing chapter of Isaiah’s prophecy speaks of God’s visitation of the people of Israel. Isaiah spoke of a dramatic vindication of God’s people. It would be so dramatic that it seemed impossible to happen. But we live on the other side of this prophecy. After about 2000 years of being stateless, the Jews were granted a natural homeland in Palestine.
The Balfour declaration of 1917 led to the league of nations mandate to Great Britain in 1922; and on May 14th, 1948, Britain withdrew their mandate and Israel was immediately declared a sovereign state. The prophecy in this passage was literally fulfilled with Israel becoming a sovereign state in one day. A nation was born in a day. God vindicated the people and fulfilled His promises to them.
God will vindicate you
Just as God vindicated Israel, He will vindicate you who are His child by covenant, and who trembles at His word. Those who fear the Lord, and tremble at His word have a special place in God’s heart. God is so committed to such people, though they may suffer and be ridiculed. God will visit them with His deliverance and salvation. He will deliver them and put their enemies to shame. Nothing will stop Him when He arises to save His people who hope and trust in His word. God is in control of the events of our lives and His purposes and counsel for His children will come to pass.
God will not leave you
At His appointed time, God will use people or orchestrate events to accomplish His purposes for His people. God is assuring you who trembles at His word that your deliverance will come. God is committed to completing what He has started. He will not stop halfway but will fully deliver His own. God will not leave you His child in limbo, or at the mercy of your enemies.
Though time may pass, and darkness may seem to hide His hand and face, God’s unseen hand is still at work. You may feel hopeless and forgotten, but God is in control and your vindication will definitely come from God. It may seem long or late but wait for it because God takes pleasure in the welfare of His servants, and He will visit and vindicate you in due time.
“Let my vindication come from Your presence; Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright“
Psalm 17:2
